The MNCs Data Project

The Gist: Records FDI locations and functions for 77 major multinational companies on an annual basis (1993-2010). The data are organized by company-country-year. The structure of the dataset permits identifying FDI initiation, changes in firms' FDI positions, and FDI termination. It also allows analysts to study MNCs' FDI networks as a whole, and to account for the interdependence among their constituent parts (i.e. host sites).

The WorkR Data Project

The Gist: Measures government provision of seven distinct worker rights in law and practice, respectively. Utilizes a standards-based coding scheme derived from ILO recommendations. Covers all countries of the world on an annual basis (1994-2010). The data can be used to analyze variations in labor laws, labor practices, and the "gap" between them. Rights can be studied independently, or can be combined into indices corresponding with broader categories of rights (e.g. "union rights" vs. "substantive rights").
